The vibrant Eindhoven Oratorio Society (EOV), founded in 1947, is one of the larger mixed choirs in Eindhoven, with around 65 members.
The EOV performs major oratorios, requiems and masses from the classical music tradition by composers such as Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Haydn. More modern works by composers including Rutter, Gjeilo, Lauridsen, Britten and Poulenc are also performed. Under the inspiring leadership of conductor and artistic director Geert Broeksteeg, the choir has achieved a high standard.
Professional orchestras and soloists contribute to the concerts. For large-scale compositions, the choir is reinforced by guest singers. Most major performances take place at the Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven. In addition, smaller performances are held regularly, including at the Catharina Church in Eindhoven.
The Eindhoven Oratorio Society rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm at the Johanneskerk, Mercuriuslaan 1b in Eindhoven. In addition, social activities with a musical theme are organised regularly.
