Register for the first Eindhoven Scratch performance of the Messiah. The performance will take place on Saturday 21 June 2025 under the direction of Geert Broeksteeg in the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. We will study Handel's Messiah in one day: in the morning with piano accompaniment and in the afternoon with the orchestra and soloists. The performance will follow in the evening, for which you can invite guests.

The solo parts will be sung by professional soloists and the orchestra also consists of professional musicians. We will share information about soloists and orchestra as soon as possible.

Sing along!

Everyone is welcome to sing along, whether you are an experienced chorister or just starting out. However, it is important that you rehearse the Messiah beforehand. There are good practice files to listen to on the Internet, for example Koorpartij-oefening.nl, Cyberbass, MuseScore or Chord Perfect. The Eindhovense OratoriumVereniging acts as a “support choir. So don't worry if you miss a note now and then, the EOV will pull you through!

Several versions of the score of the Messiah exist. The most commonly used are Peters and Novello. You can use either the Peters version or the Novello edition of the Messiah. The conductor uses Peters. So should you want to buy another score, the Peters is more convenient. A tip: take the edition with the English text only. A comparison of the numbering in both editions can be found here. Choruses 37 and 39 (Peters) and 39 and 41 (Novello) are not performed by the choir. You purchase the score yourself, for example at Stretta or at Broekmans en van Poppel. You can also download pdf files from these sites as well as from Carus. (not Peters) Free versions can also be found on the Internet, amongst others Café Puccini (orchestra, no piano).

Public rehearsals

Till the scratch concert, there is a public rehearsal every month. The public rehearsals are free to attend. You can register here.

Until March 25 the cost for participation is €45 for adults, after March 25 it is € 50; youth under 20 or students pay €25. A maximum of four participants can be registered at one e-mail address.

If there are too many applications and you cannot be placed, you will be informed and placed on a waiting list. If we are unable to place you due to a large number of applications, we will let you know mid-April.

During the scratch, photo and film recordings will be made for EOV to use for publicity purposes.

If you are unexpectedly unable to participate, you can notify us by mail until May 21, 2025. Your payment will be refunded as soon as possible. For cancellations after this date, €10,-- will be deducted from the refund. Cancellations after June 10, 2025 will not be refunded.

Food and drink

Coffee and tea are available free of charge during rehearsal. A sandwich lunch at €8 can be ordered at registration, but of course you can also bring your own bread or walk into town for lunch. The Muziekgebouw is located right in the center of Eindhoven and there are plenty of lunch options.
